Familiars

Familiars are extensions of another creature's magic given form. They can be arcane or willed in nature, but in either case, they represent a connection from a creature to a patron. This patron is usually someone who has an abundance of power and authority over the creature, though that need not always be the case.

The ritual to create a familiar is taxing and expensive on the patron, however, the benefits are mutual. The recipient receives a familiar which can assist them in a myriad of ways, and the patron gains an expanded perception of the world and connections which can be crucial in overcoming death or advancing their aims.
